In order for any worthwhile public discourse to occur, the people involved must be critical thinkers and reasonably well informed regarding the topic under consideration. Sadly, few people today qualify. Ergo, much of what passes for discourse today is little more than ignorant uncritical thinkers talking past one another and engaging in juvenile and tribal character assassinations.
