Regulations

An appalling result of the government public education (sic) system is its failure to educate.

Economic ignorance is just one result.

Most people do not understand basic economics and are thus easily persuaded to accept if not support policies and programs which are not in their best interest.

Take for example regulations. Most people, and especially liberals believe that regulations are both necessary and beneficial.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Almost without exception, regulations today are drafted by lobbyists representing the industry to be regulated. Then bought and paid for politicians simply rubber stamp them.

One might be forgiven for thinking that the huge corporations representing these industries deplored regulations.

The truth however, is just the opposite.

These lengthy regulatory rules allow the major players (who can afford large legal teams) to hamstring their smaller competitors (who can not afford such teams) and in doing so they stifle innovation and keep prices artificially and unnecessarily higher than they would be under more competitive circumstances.

This situation is referred to as 'regulatory capture'.
