One of the marks of our time is the effort to depict heroes, and producers as abusers and predators and victims (another category witnessing a massive amount of descriptive creep) as the new champions, and the ones to be honored.
Let me make it clear right here that I believe that persons who have been clearly and objectively victimized deserve our sympathy and help as needed.
It is not this group that I have in mind here. Instead, I am referring to the increasing number of people, many of whom enjoy much in the way of prosperity and notoriety, but, upon noticing the social cache a person can acquire by painting themselves as a victim of one type or another, have employed twisted language and logic, to garner some of that prestige, and status and to also apply to themselves those qualities which provide admiration and respect.
This can occur in any number of categories. Race, sex, beliefs, socioeconomic status, etc.
My point is that turning desert on its head has caused a mad scramble to be king of the victim hill.
